A+ for Hygiene School Books!

classroom

Palmer Fixture has always been an advocate for proper hygiene awareness, especially in schools. A couple weeks ago, I wrote about the importance of custodial responsibilities in school environments, but today i would like to focus on the responsibilities of the students and teachers, themselves.

High School Students Drinking Hand Sanitizer to Get Drunk?!

Last week's blog focused on students' view of janitor's responsibilities and the critical roll they play in keeping schools clean and safe. This week I'd like to keep the focus on students, high school students more specifically. As most of you have probably read in recent articles, high school students have reportedly been consuming alcohol based hand sanitizer to get drunk! This is absolutely absurd! The very thought of swallowing an ounce of hand sanitizer is enough to make a person sick!

Hygiene in Schools - Palmer Fixture's Perspective

Last week's blog post included different opinions regarding Newt Gringich's proposal to leave school janitorial duties in the hands of the students. Since I found this topic really interesting, I decided to do a bit more investigation on the issue. After reading an article on ISSA.com, which focused on measuring cleanliness in schools, I've decided that janitorial responsibilities seem to be a bit misunderstood.

Mops-to-Math? What do you think of Newt Gringich's Idea - Should Kids Work As Janitors?

janitor

Republican presidential candidate Newt Gringich argued at an address at Harvard University last week that American school systems should fire their unionized janitors and let underprivileged children do the work instead. He insists this approach will allow kids to learn life skills, and taxpayers would save money... Although this proposal has received many arguments against kids working as janitors, there have also been considerable responses saying that Gringich's idea isn't that crazy.

Cleaner Bathroom Pledge: Your Patrons Will Appreciate It! - I SURE DID!

bp1   bp3   bp2

There's nothing worse than going into a public restroom, only to be disgusted by repulsive odors, bacteria, and filth. N-A-S-T-Y! AMAZING, simply amazing, how much something as simple as a clean, replenished bathroom can make a gas station visit so much more awesome. Yesterday I, myself, felt this fantastic feeling of relief upon entering Green Bay, Wisconsin's very own BP gas station! That's right, I was the weirdo in the BP bathroom taking pictures... of the bathroom. Ha.
This 'Our Cleaner Bathroom Pledge' poster on the restroom door is very admirable, in my opinion, because it show's a dependable commitment to restroom cleanliness. It invites patrons to inform gas station employees if anything is out of place. The Poster is conveniently displayed directly above the 'wash hands before returning to work' sign, which lets visitors know that they not only care about the proper hygiene of their patrons, but also good health and hygiene for their employees. The photo of the woman (with dry hair) blow drying her hair is a bit much for me, but that's neither here nor there, just kinda funny. How many people bring a hair dryer into a public restroom and style themselves?
Also worth noting, this BP gas station showcases Palmer Fixture's very own T245 Electra® electronic roll towel dispenser!!! Way to go, BP gas station! As my previous blog explains, going touch-free with restroom fixtures is becoming more of a necessity than a perk, and patrons are coming to expect this in properly maintained restroom facilities. So, hats off to you, wonderful gas station restroom person! I will gladly return! And for those of you who haven't embraced innovation in proper restroom care, contact Palmer Fixture
